Classification and Structure of Fire Hoses

Classification of Rubber Fire Hose by Structure

Fire Hose with Liner

This is a more common type of fire hose that mainly uses rubber and other high-polymer materials as a liner. According to the external structure of the braiding layer, it can be subdivided into coated fire hose, double-sided adhesive fire hose and uncoated fire hose.

Coated fire hose and double-jacket fire hose have many advantages due to their structural characteristics, and have excellent performance such as aging resistance, wear resistance, chemical corrosion resistance, and oil resistance. In addition, they are easy to clean. In addition, according to the structure of the braiding layer itself, it can also be subdivided into double-layer fabric fire hose and single-layer fabric fire hose.

Fire Hose with Water Inside

This kind of rubber flexible fire hose is mainly used in special occasions and is relatively advanced. Its structure is that neat and orderly arranged pinholes are prepared on the belt body.

When it is used under a certain pressure, the fire extinguishing medium (water or other extinguishing substances) in the water hose can penetrate evenly and adhere to the outside of the belt body and play a protective role on the rubber fire hose in the fire scene.

Fire Hose without Lining

This kind of fire hose was used earlier, which has no lining and only has layers of fabrics such as hemp and cotton. The phenomenon of water leakage is serious, and it has now been eliminated.

Classification of Rubber Fire Hose by Use

Fire Hose for Water Supply

Mainly used for long-distance water transportation between fire trucks and fire pumps, fire trucks and fire trucks, and other industrial and agricultural productions. Generally, it is divided into low-pressure water delivery and high-pressure water delivery according to different transport pressures.

Combat Fire Hose

Mainly used for rubber fire hoses used by firefighters at the scene of fire accidents (such as factories, residential areas, and high-rise buildings) for fire fighting.

Suction Hose

Mainly used for soft hoses that pump water from rivers, lakes, or wells. Its principle is to use vacuum action to suck water from the pressureless water source.

Forest Fire Hose

Mainly used for fire hoses used in outdoor (such as gardens, forests, grasslands, etc.) firefighting. Generally, the diameter is smaller than that of combat fire hoses.

Structure of Rubber Fire Hose

The common fire hose in China is a tubular textile layer woven by a liner and warp and weft wires, which is combined into a circular or flat tube shape by adhesive or vulcanization. It has a specified length and is soft and rollable.

Different occasions require different fire hoses, but their basic structure includes five parts: liner, fabric layer, covering layer, coating layer, and adhesive layer.

The liner is a waterproof layer attached to the inner wall of the rubber fire hose, which is not only smooth but also has a specified strength, sufficient to ensure smooth water or other extinguishing materials transportation. The liner is generally made of high polymer materials such as rubber, TPU, and PVC.

The fabric layer is the framework forming material of the entire hose. It is generally made of fiber materials such as nylon, cotton, and polyester, and has excellent wear resistance and high-pressure resistance performance.

The covering layer and coating layer are high-polymer materials covering the outer layer of the fire hose, mainly using acrylic coatings, polyurethane coatings, elastomers, rubber, and other materials.

They have waterproof, heat-resistant, corrosion-resistant, wear-resistant, aging-resistant, and flame-retardant properties, which can effectively protect the lining and fabric layer of the rubber fire hose.

The adhesive layer is a high-polymer material that glues the liner, fabric layer, and covering layer together, which can make the three firmly bonded and form a whole.

Generally, solvent-based PU glue, rubber-based solid adhesive, polyolefin hot-melt adhesive, and PU solid hot-melt adhesive are used as adhesive layers.
