Two common forming methods of corrugated hose

Corrugated hose forming is a plastic forming process that produces large deformation in a small space. Its deformation mechanism is complicated. The forming process of corrugated hose is mainly completed by the internal pressure q of the hose blank, which causes the plastic deformation of the hose in the mold.


For small and medium-diameter corrugated hoses, the currently commonly used corrugated hose forming methods are mainly divided into two types: elastomer filling extrusion forming method and hydroforming method. Here are two common forming methods for corrugated hoses. Let's take a look.


1. Deep drawing forming of the elastomer of corrugated hose

The elastomer mentioned here mainly refers to rubber and liquid media that are deformed and flowed by squeezing, such as water.


The punching punch seals the elastomer (bulging medium) in the inner cavity of the hose. When the corrugated hose is formed, the extrusion punches at both ends move relative to each other to squeeze the hose and the inner elastomer toward the center together to form a mold constrained shape.


The forming force is transmitted from the elastomer to the hose by pressing the punch. Due to the impact of the punching and sealing effect and the pressure transmission capacity of the elastomer, the final result and the quality of the forming cannot be controlled, so it is only suitable for making small-deformed corrugated hose.


That means the corrugated hose with low wave height and large wave spacing. The hose wall becomes thinner and wrinkled when the deformation is too large, and this forming method is mostly used to produce products with low quality requirements for the corrugated hose. At present, China's corrugated hose manufacturers mostly adopt this method.


2. Hydroforming of the corrugated hose

The main feature of the hydroforming method is that the forming medium is a fluid with good fluidity, such as water and hydraulic oil. As we all know, the liquid can transmit force uniformly to the contact surface, and the direction of the force is consistent with the direction of the contact surface.


The pressurized liquid enters the inside of the corrugated rubber hose blank through a dedicated channel, and the pressure field is uniformly and stably formed. Under the control of the corresponding pressure system, the process is uniform and stable, and the quality of the corrugated hose is easy to control. This method is widely used by major automobiles manufacturers in the world.


The two commonly used forming methods for corrugated hoses are introduced above, which are suitable for the production of low-end products of corrugated hoses with simple structure, low cost and low quality requirements.
