Many customers assume that all camlock couplings follow the same size standard. However, this is only true for sizes from 3/4" to 6".
For 8 inch camlock couplings, there is no unified international size standard, and different manufacturers may produce different dimensions. This can cause compatibility problems during connection.
In the market, there are mainly two common sizes of 8" camlock couplings:
Type 1:
Male camlock inner diameter (excluding hose tail): 231 mm
Female camlock inner diameter (excluding hose tail): 231.8 mm
Type 2:
Male camlock inner diameter (excluding hose tail): 226.8 mm
Female camlock inner diameter (excluding hose tail): 227.3 mm
Important:
Type 1 and Type 2 cannot be connected or interchanged because of the dimensional difference.
Currently, most customers in the USA market use Type 2 8" camlock couplings.
Before purchasing large quantities of 8 inch camlock fittings, we recommend checking the existing coupling dimensions or sending a sample to confirm compatibility.
