Linings of fire hose are divided into many types, commonly including PVC, PU, EPDM, and NR. Among these, the adhesives used for EPDM linings fall into two categories: liquid adhesive and solid adhesive (see the image below).

Fire hoses produced with solid adhesive are thicker. This is because, besides the EPDM lining itself, the adhesive layer of the fire hose is only slightly thinner than the EPDM layer. For instance:
The thickness of a 2-inch EPDM lining is approximately 0.55 mm.
The thickness of the adhesive layer reaches about 0.40 mm.
The total thickness amounts to approximately 1.00 mm.
In contrast, linings using liquid adhesive have a thickness of only 0.60 mm. Crucially, the adhesive strength of EPDM fire hoses manufactured with solid adhesive is significantly higher than that of hoses using liquid adhesive.
